As the vice-chairman of the foreign affairs committee and a candidate for a ministerial position, he is a member of an eight-person delegation that set off to Slovakia with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura. Filip Turek couldn’t praise the warm welcome from the top officials of the neighboring country enough. He even revealed to Expres that after the official meetings he had a pleasant conversation with the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. What did they talk about?
Tomio Okamura assembled the delegation exclusively from politicians of the coalition forming the new government, which is criticized by the opposition that has no representation on the visit to Slovakia.
The SPD leader justified this by saying it was a trip by personal invitation and its goal is to restore above-standard relations, so “he doesn’t want anyone there declaring that they don’t like Fico.”
The delegation also includes representatives of the Motorists — alongside the leader Petr Macinka as a candidate for foreign minister and Boris Šťastný as a likely future sports minister — as well as honorary president Filip Turek, who is vice-chairman of the foreign affairs committee and, after a swap with Macinka, ultimately a candidate for the head of the Ministry of Environment.

When the Expres editorial team contacted Turek to comment on the ongoing trip to Slovakia, he praised the warm reception the entire delegation received.
“The meetings with the Speaker of Parliament, the President of the Slovak Republic, and the representatives of the Slovak government were very nice, friendly, and substantive. Besides actively restoring Czech-Slovak relations, we want to restore the strength of the Visegrád Group (V4) through common approaches in the ministerial councils in Brussels. This will make it possible to more effectively fight against emission allowances for households, the migration pact, and other agendas very disadvantageous for our region,” Filip Turek explained what the main subject of the joint discussions was.

After these meetings, there was also room for informal conversations, and the candidate for the post of Minister of Environment revealed that he also talked with Prime Minister Robert Fico. Fico wished him success in his upcoming talks with Czech President Petr Pavel, who wants Turek to explain some past controversies and conditions his participation in the government on that.
“After the meetings I talked briefly with Robert Fico, and he wished me strong nerves in the situation of the formation of the future Czech government and in my possible participation,” Filip Turek said, and he sent Expres some photos from the government military aircraft Casa.
“It’s noisy, but it’s a nice experience. I’ve flown with it to Brussels before,” the MP added.
